How To Clean Power Valves On Ski Doo

1. Take your pipe off, exposing the servomotor.
2. Take off the cover to your servomotor (if there is one)
3. Turn the servo motor by hand so the cables have enough slack to get the cable ends out of the motor.
4. Remove the two (10mm I believe) bolts on the powervalve assembly.
5. Wiggle the powervalves out (they will be sticky if you havent cleaned them) (use your cellphone to take a picture of the valve to remember which way the bevel goes in for reference)
6. take the whole assembly and spray brake cleaner, carb cleaner, whichever you prefer. until all of the oil is off. Then use a scraper to get the carbon off the valve.
7. Reinstall the valve into the cylinder
Repeat steps for other side. Do one side at a time incase you forget how something goes together. ALSO make sure when you remove the cables from the servo to mark one cable for reference which one needs to be installed first for reassembly.
You can also make sure your cables are adjusted correctly by measuring with a caliper the distance from the cable housing to the end of your cable. (to the inside of your cable end) The valves will need to be reinstalled in the cylinder for this. The measurement should be 34.5MM

I use a wire wheel on a bench grinder to clean them up. Doesn't take long at all.

What is that in the pic that i have to loosen to get slack in the wires ? Also do i just put it back how it was, i dont have to take any measurements right ?
That ''thing" is called a servo motor.. You dont loosen it. You turn it to the left to allow slack in the cables. You dont necessarily even have to do this step.. Its just if you decide to take them all the way out of the sled. If you aren't familiar/comfortable with this you should probably leave it be. Ive read in your other posts a local mechanic looked it over for you. Im assuming he cleaned the powervalves. its kind of a regular maintenance thing. Ride the sled, if things start acting up you will know. From my experience the 700 motors are not that finicky.. Throw some new plugs in there, put some fresh gas and fill it up with oil and ride it.

Thanks guys so wd40 or brake cleaner anything like that will work then get a clean rag and just wipe them off ? Also have you guys find that sometimes if there not clean they hold back power ? How long does it usually take to clean them both ?
You'll be able to wipe off the oil but if there is carbon build up on them (black stuff stuck to them) you won't be able to just wipe that off, that is where you use a scraper, wire wheel or some other abrasive to get that off. As far as a power loss if they're dirty, the only power loss you will get is if they are so dirty they cannot slide freely in the slot they go in to open and close. If they are that dirty you will get a check engine light and you will notice a HUGE power loss. If they are a little dirty but still can slide in the slot freely there will be no power loss compared to if they are squeaky clean.

DO NOT USE BRAKE CLEANER!!! IT REACTS WITH THE SEALS AND GASKETS. I dont think I would use carb cleaner either.
you only spray the valve.. you aren't spraying the seals and gaskets. The arctic service manual says you can use brake cleaner or carb cleaner. Watch where you spray and you will be fine.
