We were left speechless when Luke Skywalker returned to a galax far, far away in The Mandalorian season 2 clos. Arsenic it turns out, and then was Mark Hamill – arsenic the prolific voice actor didn't say any of the younger Luke's lines during his cameo coming into court.

"Something citizenry didn't recognise is that his vocalise isn't existent," Mandalorian Creator Jon Favreau revealed during a new Walt Disney Drift sequence about the making of the flavour 2 stopping point (H/T Collider).

"His voice, the young Luke Skywalker voice, is totally synthesized using an coating known as Respeecher."

Favreau went on to explain how the process worked: they rifled through the archives to make a conception of Mark Hamill's earlier Luke Skywalker vocalization.

"So I had archival material from Note in that era. We had clean recorded ADR from the original films, a book on tape he'd finished from those eras, and then also Star Wars radio plays helium had through with hindmost in that time," Favreau same. "I was able to get kosher recordings of that, feed it into the system, and they were competent to slice it functioning and run over their neural network to learn this data."

That entirely goes to display how speedily computer-generated technology is evolving. We'atomic number 75 likely just few years away from being able to clone Mark Hamill at this point. That would be handy.

Next up in the live-fulfill space: The Book of Boba Fett this December. The Mandalorian season 3 is set to set in motion on Disney Plus further down the line.
